Welcome to Yuckabee, an independent center of opposition to the presidential campaign of Mike Huckabee.
Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks that the gulags of Guantanamo Bay are lovely places. "I can tell you, most of our prisoners would love to be in a facility more like Guantanamo and less like the state prisons that people are in in the United States," Huckabee says.
Having read through the government's own investigations of the prisons at Guantanamo Bay, I know of at least one prisoner there who would disagree with Mike Huckabee.
In statements come from government document DOJFBI-001773, interrogators at Guantanamo are revealed as having tormented one prisoner to the point where he slammed his head against a heavy metal door in an attempt to force himself into unconsciousness, and attempted suicide several times in order to escape the ordeal. Then, the interrogators told the prisoner that his torments would continue unless he told them what they wanted him to tell them.
Any rational human being can tell that this sort of environment is not well-designed for getting reliable information from prisoners, and that it's in violation of the law. Not Mike Huckabee. Having heard of this sort of information, Huckabee has persisted in calling Guantamo Bay "amazingly hospitable".
America ought not to suffer under Mike Huckabee's version of hospitality.
